“MacArthur Park” - I Love Dance Tampa Pageant Award Modern/Lyrical Group



The La Mirage Jazz Club won 2nd place for Modern/Lyrical Dance at the I Love Dance Tampa Pageant for 12 x 14 age Division.  The Pageant was held at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida, June 1996..  The team danced to the Donna Summers MacArthur Park Suite.

“Les Classiques Baroque” - I Love Dance Tampa Pageant Award Ballet Group


 Crystal’s ADA competition team won First Place for Ballet Group 12-14 Age Division at the I Love Dance Tampa Pageant held June, 1996 at the Tampa Convention Center.  Crystal was12 years old entering the 7 th grade.

“Mortal Kombat” - I Love Dance Columbia Pageant Award Jazz Group







Crystal’s ADA competition team won First place for Jazz Group 12-14 age Division, dancing to  Mortal Kombat in the “I Love Dance” Columbia Pageant in Columbia, South Carolina.  The pageant was held at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center, May 19, 1996.

“Lucky Ladies” - Orlando “Open” Pageant Award Tap Duo/Trio




 Crystal and her APA team partner, Allison won First Place for Tap Duo/Trio at the I Love Dance Orlando “Open” Pageant held at the Stouffer Orlando Resort on Sunday, July 10, 1994.

Patriotic Tribute - Orlando “Open” Pageant Song and Dance Award



 At the I Love Dance Orlando “Open” Pageant, the musical theater ensemble of the St. Augustine Academy of Performing Arts won First place for Song and Dance Group. They performed “Patriotic Tribute,” a variety of American songs.  They also won second place for “ Cafe De La Trebein.”  The pageant  was held  on July 10, 1994 at the Stouffer Orlando Resort.

“Rag Time” - International Championship Award Tap Group


 Crystal and her APA Competition team won First Place for Tap Group in the 9 - 11 Age Division at the  “I Love Dance” International Championship in Orlando, Florida, July 1994.  They danced to  “Ragtime”  music from the “Entertainer” by Scott Joplin (1902).  It’s honkytonk music that originally came from the Mississippi and Missouri River areas.   Crystal was 10 years old entering the 5th grade in the fall.

“Les Classiques” - International Championship Award Ballet Group



 Crystal and her APA competition team won First Place Award for Ballet Group in the 12  - 14 age Division at the “I Love Dance” International Championships in Orlando, Florida on July 4, 1996.  They danced to “Les Classiques” symphony music.  The Ballet Group also won First Place  at the “I Love Dance” Columbia Pageant held on May 19, 1996 in Columbia, South Carolina at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center.

“Hooked On Swing” - International Championship Award Tap Group





Crystal and her APA competition team won First Place  award for Tap Group in the 12 - 14 age Division at the “I Love Dance” International Championships in Orlando, Florida.  The competition was held on July 4, 1996 at the Renaissance Orlando Resort.  Crystal was 12 years old and a student at Gamble Rogers Middle School entering the 7th grade in the fall.

“Gangster Drag” - Musical Theater Production Awards



 At the I Love Dance Orlando “Open” Pageant, the Musical Theater Ensemble  “Stage Door Players” won high honors for their performances in two theater productions:  “Gangster Drag” received 2nd highest award and “A salute to America” won 3rd place.  The Stage Door Players are members of the  St. Augustine Academy of Performing Arts.  The competition was held in Orlando on July 10, 1994.  Both theater productions were choreographed by Libby Johnson. Crystal is dressed in her gangster costume in the top picture.  At the bottom picture, Crystal is in the center of the top row with her arms lifted high.  The competition ensemble group was featured in the local newspaper, the St. Augustine Record.

“BACKSTREET” - I Love Dance Orlando “Open” Pageant Award



Crystal’s dance Competition Team, LaMirage Jazz Club won First Place for Jazz Group in the 9-11 age Division at the I Love Dance Orlando “ Open” Pageant.  It was held on July 10, 1994 at the Stouffer Orlando Resort.  The Jazz team danced to “Backstreet” music.  Crystal was 10 years old in the 5th grade.

Ballet Duo/Trio Top Honors - International Championship Awards Ft. Lauderdale



 Crystal and her competition team members, Allison and Liza won First Place for Ballet Duo/Trio for age Division 15-17 in the “I Love Dance” International Championships held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, May 1997.  They are posing with their first place trophy in the top picture: L to R Liza, Allison and Crystal.

“Gavotte” Dance - I Love Dance Columbia “Open” Pageant Award Ballet Soloist



 Crystal won high honors for her ballet solo “Gavotte” in the “I Love Dance” Columbia “Open” Pageant  Awards in South Carolina held on May 19, 1996 and at the Orlando “I Love Dance” International Championship competition held on July 4, 1996 in Orlando, Florida.   Crystal was 11 years old and a student at Gamble Rogers.  Crystal’s Ballet Solo of “Gavotte” had the second highest score.  Gavotte is a French dance that originated in the southeast of France as a lively peasants kissing dance.

“Hooked on Swing” - I Love Dance Columbia “Open” Pageant Award for Tap



At the I Love Dance Columbia Pageant in Columbia, South Carolina,  Crystal and her Competition team won first place for Tap group dancing to “ Hooked on Swing.”  The dance competition was held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center on Sunday, May 19, 1996.

Peer Gynt Fantasy “Anitra's Dance” - international Championship Award Ballet Soloist


 July 10, 1994, Crystal won first place for a ballet solo “Peer Gynt Fantasy” at the I Love Dance International Championship competition In Orlando Florida.  She won top honors for age Division 9-11.  The dance is called Anitra’s Dance. She is an Arabic Princess, the  daughter of a Bedouin Chief in Morocco.  The storyline is based on a Norwegian fairy Tale.

“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” - International Championship Award Tap Duo/Trio


 In July 1994 at the I Love Dance International Championships,  Crystal and two of her competition team members won First Place for Tap Trio, age Division 9-11 to a dance entitled “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”.  Crystal’s competition team won First place for Tap, large Group 9-11 age Division.  They danced to “Rag Time”.   It was held at the Stouffer Orlando Resort in Orlando.

A Bolero Ballet - “Port Of Call” Show

 



On  June 1, 1997, The Premier Ballet Company of St. Augustine Academy of Performing Arts performed a ballet ensemble to the music of the Spanish classical “Bolero.”  The ballet was performed at Sebastian Middle School Auditorium in the “Ports of Call” show.  She was a member of the Theater Street Express choir and they performed songs of America.

In July 17, 1997, Crystal and two of her company dancers did a trio ballet performance at the I Love  Dance International Championships in Orlando Florida and won First Place for the 15-17 year old division.  Crystal just turned 13 and would be entering the 8th grade in the fall.  Her talent excelled for her age.  It was an outstanding accomplishment considering she was competing against older teenagers (15 to 17) who had more years of dance training then her.  She continued dancing until September 1999, and then she moved to Colorado Springs to live with her older sister, Stephanie and attend school in Colorado.

Danes MacAbre Ballet - International Championship Award



The St. Augustine Academy of Performing Arts competition team won top honors in Ballet for age Division 12-14.  They won 1st place in the ‘I Love Dance’ International Championship held in Tampa, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center, July 1996.  Crystal was 12 years old in the 7th grade at Gamble Rogers Middle School.  The ballet was choreographed to classical music “Danes MacAbre”.  It is a tone poem for orchestra written in 1875.  It was based on an old French superstition and is considered scary classical music.  It was recorded by Camille Saint-Sale.

The competition team also won high honors in Modern/Lyrical dance wining second highest score for age Division 12-14.

A Strauss Ballet - International Championship Award

 




In June1994 "State of the Art" production, Crystal's Advance Ballet Group did a dance choreograph by Mike Carl to the music of Strauss In D-Flat.  Mike Carl was a professional dancer with Ballet Theater of Pennsylvania and danced for the Sarasota Ballet and Gainesville's DanceAlive.  July 7, 1994 the Advance Ballet Group won first place at "I Love Dance" International Championship Competition in Orlando for the 9-11 age division.  Crystal was 10 years old going into the 5th grade at Hartley Elementary School.
